2) Abk.: n-: veraltetes, kursiv gesetztes Strukturpräfix zur Charakterisierung einer linearen, unverzweigten Struktur bei Alkanen (n-Butyl-/Isobutyl-, n-Octan/Isooctan) u. Alkan-1-olen (n-Hexanol);

2. (veraltend) in [geistiger] Entwicklung u. Wachstum keine ins Auge fallenden Abweichungen aufweisend:
bist du noch n.? (salopp; Ausruf des Ärgers, der Entrüstung über jmds. Verhalten o. Ä.).
In dieser älteren, wertenden Bedeutung sollte das Wort normal im öffentlichen Sprachgebrauch nicht mehr verwendet werden. Das gilt besonders dann, wenn es als Gegensatzwort zu geistig behindert gemeint ist.
